Boards of Canada - Geogaddi

I know I've posted way too much Boards of Canada on this blog, but it would be dumb of me not to put this one up. Fuck all their other albums I posted; this shit is dark, unnerving, and cool as fuck. Has lots of warped and distorted melodies with weird vocal loops and ominous moods, tones, etc. Very weird, groovy music that sometimes does nothing, but sometimes hits that sweet spot of strangeness and scariness and is something you want to listen to again and again. Personal favorite BoC album

R@d1oh3@d - Th3 K1ng 0f L1mß5

Its a pretty damn short album, but it has a lot of nice dark pretty moments that I dig. If you liked the quieter moments of Kid A and In Rainbows, then I say go for it.
BTW, the link is in .FLAC format. Anyone can use .FLAC very easily, but I think .FLAC files have to be reformatted if you want to play it in iTunes. I recommend using the free program XLD if you're a mac user.
Also, the link might say that it is "temporarily unavailable", but keep trying, it has not been deleted, at least not yet. It'll work after a few tries. I think it just says this a lot because the link is being used so much that it gets busy and shit.

Vladislav Delay - Multila

Often regarded as Sasu Ripatti (aka Vladislav Delay)'s best work. The sounds he makes are really unlike any noise or ambient I ever heard. The noises are deep, churning, organic, and dark as fuck: sounds that provoke the mind to imagine dead bodies slowly crawling out of the deepest oceans. Or maybe that's just me. Either way, Multila sounds like the artifact of some failed scientific attempt to record the vibrations of the Earth's crust on acetate vinyl. A must listen for those who have a taste for weird noises and burps on the digital whatever machine.

Tetsu Inoue - Ambiant Otaku

An amazing ambient/ space-out album... This is Tetsu's first album, plus the first album of his that I have listened to, and I'm going to have to pick up the rest of his discography because this one is so good. Reminiscent of Eno's spacey stuff and gentle Tim Hecker. Each song on this album envelops you with beautiful electronica melodies and field recordings and your head starts floating and you can hear your hair growing and your hands are pulsing and the land is expanding before your very eyes. Just a gem of an album. Anyone who likes floating on the ceiling should pick this up.

Oneohtrix Point Never - Returnal

This is an absolute must, must, must have for any fans of Brian Eno, Tim Hecker, Fennesz, Wolfgang Voigt and other noise/drone artists. This very well may be my pick for Best Album of 2010. The first track sounds like the creation of the Sun or something, definitely the coolest song I've heard in a long time. The rest of the album just makes you feel like you're gently sinking deeper and deeper into a K hole. Pretty crazy shit, man. Who needs drugs when you got this shit

Tim Hecker - Apondalifa

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Super intense 7" of just crazy, beautiful Tim Hecker noise. It's only 9 minutes long, but it's soundscape is about as giant as the above picture. I'm tepted to call it a wall of noise, but I think it'd be more appropriate to call it a sky of noise, or something along those lines. Yeah. Here's a preview of half of the song right here:TIM HECKER - APONDALIFA (SIDE A) by ROOM40

And Here's the whole thing

Tycho - Past is Prologue

An album that I've had for a while and never really gotten sick of. Sort of a cross between Boards of Canada and Okinawa Lifestyle. Really shimmering and groovy.

Okinawa Lifestyle - Lazy Friend You Move So Fast

Really cool and interesting chillwave/techno grooves. If you don't know what chillwave is, it's sort of a movement from the west coast and Georgia, known for its shimmering, glossy techno compositions that remind you of summer. Players in this genre are also really big fans of lo-fi photography, and being hipsters. Still, a really fun genre to listen to, especially when it's this good. This is one of the most refreshing albums I've heard in a while. A great find from HolyFuckingShit40000

Click HERE to go to their website and download the 5 songs for free. There's an option to download the whole album, but for some reason, that doesn't work on their website. So just download the tracks individually.

Neu! - Neu!

I'm not sure why it took us so long to post this album, but here it finally. Required listening for anyone who follows our blog at all.

G A S - Oktember

Another sweet mindfuck by Wolfgang Voigt's side project Gas. This is a two-song EP that will knock your socks off and so on. It's dark. It's scary. It's trippy as hell. It's like his later album Pop, except much more frightening and off-putting. Plus it's got more of a four-on-the-floor beat goin on. I really, really like these two songs. Get it.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Volume II

Volume II differs significantly from the first volume in the series, in that it consists of lengthy, textured ambient compositions with minimal percussion and occasional vocal samples, in a vein similar to Brian Eno's ambient works. James described the album as being "like standing in a power station on acid"[2] and went on to note that the sounds on record were inspired by lucid dreams, and that upon awaking, he would attempt to re-create the sounds and record them. He claimed to have natural synaesthesia, which contributed to this album.[2]

Beautiful and oftentimes disturbing, this is a mindfuck on all accounts. Repititious, mentally exhausting and possibly trance-inducing. Definitely not your typical Aphex Twin. This shit has bad (or awesome) trip written all over it.

G A S - Pop

Gas is a project of Cologne, Germany-based electronic musician Wolfgang Voigt. Voigt cites his youthful LSD experiences in the Königsforst, a part of Germany's black forest[1] situated near his hometown of Köln, as the inspiration behind the project[2]. He has claimed that the intention of the project is to "bring the forest to the disco, or vice-versa"

The last, and possibly greatest, of the GAS albums, this one is the most removed from any dance/techno influence (although there are still a couple songs with a "four-on-the-floor" dance tempo). Just a wondrous beautiful album of "Free-Noise Nature" sounds that'll space you the fuck out. If you liked Tim Hecker, you'll dig GAS.

Fennesz - Endless Summer

CLASSIC CLASSIC CLASSIC this album fits on my "Top Ten Albums of All Time" list (Top 5 maybe? That could be pushing it, but who knows?) It's noisy, it's melodic, it's beautiful, it knocks you on your ass! One of the best albums you'll find on this blog!

Special Thanks to this guy for posting the album on his blog

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children

It's like Campfire Headphase (which is also on this blog), 'cept this album is more funky and creepy. Often hailed as their best album. Really good music to Trip to, take it from 僕me僕

Tim Hecker - Harmony in Ultraviolet

Beautiful compositions done by digitally altered noises and melodies. Really, really trippy and beautiful textures of sound that just envelop you in this weird kind of atmosphere. That's as good of a description as I can muster. Even without drugs, you'll just space the fuck out when you listen to this.

Special thanks to this guy for showing me Tim Hecker

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase

Just to give you an idea, this is elevator music on acid. Really mellow and beautiful, but also groovy. It's just so easy to get lost in it. Really wonderful and distorted. It's just so cool. Whenever I listen to this for like five minutes, I'm thinking deeply about outer space and stuff. Just get it and float away with it.
